Speaking Practice for Interviews: A 10-Minute Daily Routine
A daily routine that turns nervous interviewees into clear, structured communicators in 4 weeks. No coach required.
Most interview prep guides tell you what to answer. They almost never tell you how to practice the delivery. That's the gap this routine fills. Ten minutes a day, four weeks, no coach.
The routine (10 minutes/day)
- Minute 0–1: pick one behavioral prompt ("Tell me about a time you disagreed with a manager").
- Minute 1–3: speak your answer for 60 seconds with no notes. Record it.
- Minute 3–5: read the transcript. Did you have a Point, a Reason, an Example? Note your filler count.
- Minute 5–7: re-record the same prompt with the gaps fixed.
- Minute 7–10: read aloud one short paragraph (any article) at a steady 130 WPM to warm down.
Week-by-week focus
- Week 1: structure (every answer must have a clear Point + Reason + Example).
- Week 2: fillers (target under 4 per 100 words).
- Week 3: pace (consistent 130–150 WPM, no rushing).
- Week 4: warmth (smile while you speak, vary your tone).
Why this works when memorising answers doesn't
Memorised answers fall apart the moment the interviewer rephrases the question. Practiced delivery stays robust because you've trained the muscle of structuring on the fly. By week three, you stop thinking about PREP — it just happens.
